Parinacota from “above”

Parinacota from “above”

Parinacota from “above” (volcano.space.edu). Chilean map gives the exact altitude of South summit, but this is not the highest point of the crater rim! The highest point is the North-west summit which is not far from 10 m higher than both north and south summits. GPS data collected when circling round the crater rim. 28th of July 2005 (please read summit log)

Very Interesting !

I climbed Para in July 99, via the N face from the col with Pomerape, and from this image, I stopped at your 6344, though I also remember walking along to your 6347 because I wasn't sure if it was higher. Doubt I'll be going back to walk around to 6348 though!

Re: Very Interesting !

Sorry for this so late reply but I was not (and still not am) a fine user of SP
Anyway, I stopped next to lower point of crater rim in 2004 and circled it the year after.
I took this GPS points because there was no accurate data about highest point at the time. Doing that, and if relaible, I apologize for creating such a situation telling people they may not have reached the 6357m summit for a few meters height
