South face ski Descent with Rachael. Skinned up the NE ridge from Spruce Creek. Only about 2-3 inches of fresh snow, but it held up really well and skiied smooth over the frozen winter snowpack below.
W/Court from Spruce Creek
Spotty weather that threatened rain but cleared quickly.
Easy traverse from Peak 9, great views!
SUPER cloudy day. Snow and flurries. Hiked in the clouds literally all day. With Britt Jones & Brad McQueen.
Last peak to summit out of the other three. Started down at 11:20a.m. as clouds started to roll in.
Good day in the mountains. Lots of skiers out. http://www.coloradoascents.blogspot.com/2015/07/crystal-peak-and-peak-10.html
Shaylee, Kessler, Kimberly, and I snowshoed to Francies Cabin in the late evening; not starting until dark. The half moon was surprisingly light, but we still used headlamps. We made it in just over an hour.
The original plan was to have Kessler climb Peak 10 with me, but he had hit his head at school the day before and had a big bump, so decided not to risk it.
I climbed the east ridge alone and made a fast glissade off the southeast face. It was a good glissade, but there were a few cliff bands to avoid. From the summit, I could see a storm approaching, so I didn't want to stick around. I got back to the hut just as the snowstorm hit. We packed up and snowshoes through the heavy snow falling, but it cleared up as we descended the mountain.
Originally planned on skiing Crystal, but the clouds came out and I didn't think it would soften so decided to go for Peak 10 instead and ski more south facing slopes that had a little more sun before it went away. Still pretty choppy, but it was better than I thought it would be.
very windy day, planned to continue onto crystal, but my partner had to go pick up his kids, so we turned around. Still a nice day out.
Went up the East Ridge and then down the grundgy and loose north ridge to continue on to Pks 9 & 8.
Great day in Tenmiles, I used the Mercury skilift in Breckenridge, stashed my skis in the forest, then hiked Pk10, Crystal, Pk10 and Pk9. Awesome whole day trip with some loose rock on the north ridge of Pk10.
Went up and skied the fourth of july bowl from the summit...
Odd summit pole, but nice hike from the saddle of Crystal. Descended east to the Wheeler Trail.
Combined with Peak 9.
Beautiful fall day. I was amazed how green the Crystal Lakes basin still was for late September. A dusting of snow also covered parts of the mountains.
Nice loop hike. The ridge to Father Dyer was the best part, but coming down off of Father Dyer was tedious. Had the dog with me - otherwise I probably would have come back over Mt Helen. (class3 ridge, I hear.)
With Sugarloaf Mountain.
