5 in 1!  Sucess!

I went for the Smokies traverse from Galena Pass, which was great. Views both directions almost the entire time and my car did most of the vertical. The traverse from Saviers to Camas CoHP was much more challenging than other parts of the hike. The last tower presents a hefty class4 section that isn't avoidable once you're on the ridge. I often climb with my cattle dog and she was a champ as always, but did need some assistance on that part.

I left on the hour so I recall the times:
1:00 Lower Titus
1:30 Titus
2:00 Bromaghin
2:40 Saviers
3:30 Camas
7 hours car to car

I'll add that coordinates I had found put the west side of the summit as the CoHP, instead of Pk. 10337. I can see why now- the USGS quad has an extra contour line there. Upon arriving at the summit I immediately suspected that to be wrong. Most visitors seem to agree that the contour line is a USGS mistake because the cairn and register were at Pk. 10337 on the east side.

Via Owl Creek  Sucess!

Made the same loop as the other guys it sounds like. The river was low enough to drive across in a dodge diesel at the time I was there in early August. Very pretty hike, lots of elk, mulies, and some goats. Crazy t-storms that afternoon and the next day. Saw the biggest hail of my life that weekend in Challis.

See Dean's log entry. It was indeed a very enjoyable climb. We made a loop out of it, ascending near point 9616, then descending SE from the summit via the Owl Creek cirque.

This is my only "virgin" county highpoint (meaning I was the first county highpointer to claim climbing it). Very scenic area!

Route Climbed: Cross country Date Climbed: Aug 14, 2005  Sucess!

Bob Bolton and I did this enjoyable hike the day after we had done Hyndman Peak. The route is all cross country and we managed to make it fun.
