Five Summits   Sucess!

I met Greg G and we packed in to 12,300', set up and went to Lamarck, Lamarck North West, Lamarck South, then back to camp. The next day we climbed 13,172 and 12,978, right across from it. Then headed back down. Great trip. Although a 40% chance of rain, the rain stayed out to the north, visible from Lamarck, but never made it to us.

Ninjas!  Sucess!

Summitted with Bob Burd and Tom Grundy on what turned out to be my shortest hike (by far) of the Sierra Challenge. I needed rest, so opted to forego easy additional peaks nearby. Brisk winds and stealthy ascents brought out the balaclavas. I didn't run down with the racers as my goal was simple; I wanted to complete all ten days of the Sierra Challenge.

majestic views  Sucess!

Great day!

I was probably the last person to summit on the fifth day of Bob Burd's 2015 Sierra Challenge. I missed a turn on the way up, then did some fun cross-country rock scrambling from Upper Lamarck Lake to get back on track.

The views were astounding. Folks who arrived an hour earlier complained about fierce winds; it was gusty but tolerable when I summited at 12:30 pm. I couldn't find the register. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't descend the chute of loose boulders on the north face.

Descending the same well-developed trail, I became skeptical at the creek crossing (the same spot where I missed the turn on the way up), so I backtracked and followed the wispy remnants of an abandoned trail down to Grass Lake.

Good Snow Climb  Sucess!

More snow than I expected that way. Wind sculpted crust and some sketchy exposed trail conditions once passed Upper Lamarck Lake. No evidence of any other human passage this season. May be good skiing in a couple of weeks.

From Lamarck Col  Sucess!

I thought I was somewhere else, but the view wasn't bad.
