We had a snow rich year and the whole McCarty Basin was filled with snow. I had to do a belly flop to get over a cornice just below the summit. Then walked over the Emery, but did not follow the ridge - that looked hard, loose. I dropped a little bit on snow field below the ridge and then gained it close to the summit.

Camped in Eureka Gulch, followed the south fork of the Animas to Dome Mtn's north ridge, then over to Tower, East Storm, Proposal, Emery and Bonita before following the Eureka road and some bushwhacking back to our camp. Long loop, but a rewarding day!
