Nice loop from Independence Pass
Slept in a car on top of the pass, hiked up 13500, onto Twining, then onto UN 13545 and down to Independence Lake, trail to the road and up the road back to the Independence Pass.

Day 6 of 6 day Colorado hiking trip. Forecast called for rain. Left Independence Pass at 6:00 a.m. hurrying up the slopes hoping to reach the summit before the storm came. Reached the top at 7:00. Rain began. Everything to the west was in clouds. Took a few pictures and basically ran down the slopes to reach the pass at 7:30. At least got to bag something.

Indy Pass
During a week-long Sawatch trip with the wife, we wanted a shorter hike on a day with a bad forecast. So we went up Pt 13,500 from Indy Pass, and I went over to Twining as well.

Independence PassClimbed twice, both times from Independence Pass on the way to climb Twining Peak. First on 6/7/07 and second on 11/4/12.

Acclimation HikeWe hiked this peak as an acclimation hike before attempting Elbert the next day. What an exhilarating hike!!
