Traverse: Richmond to Black Bear  Sucess!

Up to Richmond Pass from 550: T8, T7, Telluride, 13510, Trico and down via Black Bear to 550. Nice traverse. Three tricky bits: 1. towers on ridge between Richmond Pass and T8 - bypass to N; 2. towers near T8-T7 col - bypass N by dropping into Imogene Basin; 3. N ridge of Trico - steep, loose but never worse than 2+

nice day out  Sucess!

A lot of snow this year. Snowshoed up. Lovely day. Great views from the summit, not just surrounding peaks, but down into Telluride, which appeared so close.

Peak is kind of hard to reach - lots of little hills on the way up, some up and downs, no trail, and deep snow thanks to snow rich May and June. Started from Red Mountain Pass, walked by 2 weather stations - Senator Mine on the way up and Swampy Angel on the way down.

Red Mtn Pass  Sucess!

6/28/14: "Two-fer" on a beautiful day, after climbing the Haydens the weather was gorgeous so why not play for two? 0% chance of thunderstorms, why not take advantage :)
6/10/17: Summit ski descent with Rachael from Red Mtn Pass, too melted near the pass to ski the whole way so we had to boot out the last few hundred feet.

Peak 13510 ft Red Mtn Pass  Sucess!

I had seen this beautiful peak in 2002 & 2003. Always thought about finding my way to the top of it but did not get the chance to do so until 2013. Left Red Mountain Pass at 6 a.m. and was on the summit by 8:20. I then went to Ptarmigan Lake. Forest fires created hazy/smoggy skies. Much less snow in 2013 than 2003.
