Hiked to the summit from the Imperial lift and skied down a double black. I jumped a few feet high at the summit to get to 13,000' :)
Summited Pk 8 then Pk 7, then skied down the couloir/avy chute to Copper, then Summit stage home...
Off of Imperial, cheating I know, but a hike's a hike.
What a delightful day! Three peaks, bomber views, unbeatable weather...and back down in Breckenridge with plenty of time to enjoy lunch at the brewery. Life is good!
Started in Frisco, ran the ridge from Royal all the way to Peak 8 and then down to Breckenridge. Took the free county bus back to my car, great to have that so you can do this solo! Have actually been up here several times from the lift with various ski descents, but this was the first real "hike" I did for this summit.
It looks much different than it does when ski season is in full swing.
Before the Imperial, there was once only the mighty T-Bar. Drops you off I think it was about 500 vertical feet away. Should I count it as a summit. You bet, it was as windy as, well, Breck, usually is in January...
Started at Miner's Creek up the east ridge of Peak 1 and all the way across to Peak 9. Was racing storms near the end of the day. Sweet traverse!
As part of the Tenmile traverse with Jared. About 9.5 hours from Frisco down to Breck. Fun outing.
From the top of Imperial Lift, took about 6 minutes. No views at the summit, but I'll be back. Fun ride down the bowl.
Hiked over from Peak 9. Finished with Peak 7. Forgot my sunscreen on this one. Will never do that again.
Summited at noon, seven hours after leaving the car, as part of the Tenmile Traverse.
Also climbed on 9/19/08 with Nisa as part of the "Eightmile Traverse."
Also climbed a few dozen times from the top of the Imperial chair in winter.
OK, so I took the Imperial lift to just below the summit, but it was still a great ride after climbing the rest of the way to the top. I loved snowboarding down that ridge with my son and getting away from the Breck crowds.
Part of the Tenmile Traverse.
Part of the Tenmile Traverse... what a long but fun day! Mount Royal through Peak 10. 16.5 miles, 8100' gain, 15 hours.
Did this as part of the Tenmile Traverse, a truly kick-butt route. Peak's 5-10 are all pretty gentle and make for a pretty mellow ending if you start at Frisco
Hiked up from the t-bar and skied down SE bowl (Imperial Bowl?). I've done this many times, but now it has lost its allure, with a lift going all the way to the top now. Sometimes a ski area needs to know when to say when.
Took a trip to Breck in mid March to snowboard Breck and Vail. Last day at breck a few friends and I took the t-bar up to the foot access point and hiked up. It took about 45 min and the conditions were windy. View was great, I think it is Copper that you can see on the west side, it was amazing. We took the Whale's Tale down, dropped in off a cornice, and came down the Y-Chute.
Late summer snow made it very dramatic. Beautiful peak.
