An exceptional ridge. Started at Pitkin Creek, dropped by the lake at 1hr18, reached East Partner summit in 2hr20, Peak W in 3hr22 and returned to Pitkin TH in 4hr54.
W is cool, pretty stable terrain for descending from our experience. A good excuse to venture into the exceptional drainage below Usable Pass.
Traversed over from "East Partner" and then on "X Prime", some interesting notches on the ridge from "East Partner" required some bypassing as they were near vertical slabs on the back side. Didn't even both with the ridge to "X Prime" as I was worried it would be too time consuming given the weather, just dropped and found a gully closer to the summit to come back, it did have an interesting exposed class 4 slab finish to spice it up at the end.
Route Climbed: Southwest Face from Pitkin Creek Date Climbed: August 13, 2006
Great Views of East and West Partner, as well of X and Y. Slept in the rain in upper Pitkin for 20hrs. before climbing W. Relaxing solo weekend, but took a nice bruise on the way down.
Jon, you were the last, of very few people, to sign the register up there!

Route Climbed: Southwest Face from Pitkin Creek Date Climbed: August 2005Nice mountain. Being lower then its majestic neighbors makews W's summit seem more like a position then a place... But it is a sweet position.
