February Climb with some Snow Climbing  Sucess!

I started at the Robb Drive entry and worked my way up the very steep ridge. The path was dry for the first half to 2/3rds, and after was muddy on the west side and snowy on the east. I made a point to go off-trail and get some practice in with my ice axe and crampons. It took about 5 hours round trip, and while it wasn't some monumental feat, I forgot lunch and was reminded of my rules of mountaineering:
1. It's always bigger than it looks.
2. It's always farther than it looks.
3. It's always steeper than it looks.
4. It's always harder than it looks.

Robb + Ridge  Sucess!

Trail from Robb Drive, left at fork up steep ridge to "five points", crossed road then up the AT&T Ridgeline to summit. Took a slightly different route down to mix it up. Great views in all directions. 8.8 Miles R/T.

From Diamond Ridge Road  Sucess!

3000' of gain from the residential cul-de-sac at the end of Diamond Ridge Rd.

Driving up Peavine Rd is cheating :)

Pics and commentary are here.

Easy drive up  Sucess!

Drive up very good quality road to summit, went to lower summit first by mistake, then drove over to higher summit.

Great climb, really steep in sections, lots of deer. Worth the effort.

Cold and gray  Sucess!

Drove a rental Toyota Corrolla to within a mile of the top. The r/t hike took 45 minutes. The day was cloudy, breezy with drizzle, so I didn't want to chance the roads any more than I had to in my little car. Despite the conditions, I enjoyed this peak.

North Side  Sucess!

Got off 395N near Cold Springs, there's an empty parking lot on the left side of highway. Parked there and trekked up the north ridges which eventually came to trail. A clear day, enjoyed a solo summit with the ipod and poles.

Parked just a couple minutes below the summits, tagged both. Fine view of Reno, a little chilly and windy on top.

Drive Up  Sucess!

Rode up in a rental car with 3 other peakbaggers via Peavine Road. Sighted with a level to confirm that western summit is 10 to 15 feet higher. Tagged both anyway.

Hiked it  Sucess!

I hiked this mountain on a much longer route than I probably needed to take. I went up the power line trail which was very steep. I returned down the dirt road. The view of Reno and Stead is pretty sweet. Because the hike is all on dirt roads instead of hiking trail I would recommend just driving to the top. This hike kind of annoyed me actually.
