"Peregrine Rock"

That's not really the name, official or unofficial; I called it this for my own memories because just moments before I got here, there was a peregrine falcon perched on top, the first I've ever seen. The rock itself is very close to the summit of the small mesa directly south of Devils Kitchen. The rock is only about 7 or 8 feet high and is a Class 3 scramble, but, as you can see, there is some significant exposure, so be very cautious on this "easy" boulder. Rim Rock Drive is visible below. The camera was not tilted; the land is. Colorado National Monument, CO-- October 2009
