Petroglyph on Caineville Reef

Petroglyph on Caineville Reef

This is one of three petrogylphs that can be found on Caineville Reef not too far from Highway 24. It was almost certainly not created by ancient Native Americans, but I welcome any helpful information. I have seen a photograph of this petroglyph somewhere else, maybe on a postcard, but I can't remember where. Utah, October 2012

Fake

Bob, unfortunately, it is almost surely fake (as are the rest). It shows no signs of erosion at all on the lines and the style doesn't resemble anything remotely close to any other petroglyph in the area.

All other petroglyphs in the area have solid bodies, not outlines. Plus the face drawn resembles more of something like how we draw faces, not how they carved things during the Fremont Culture.

Re: Fake

Thanks. I have no doubt you're right.
