Climbed via Red Pine trailhead with Kaden Robinson. Beautiful climb and fun scrambling and ridge traverses. Great day!
Such a pretty mountain. 5 hrs 30 min total time car to car. Little bit of rain last 30 min. Lots of people out this weekend. Views over to Timp were awesome. All the aspens are pretty lit up. All in all - it was not a tough as I expected.
Somehow all of my previous dates for climbs were "erased." #29 6-27-15 W/ Kevin Shumwasy and Yz. Also hit Little Pfeifferhorn. Have done this mountain in all 4 seasons and as part of the Beatout Hike as well. #30 8-26-16 W/ Brent (part way) and Yz. 3+41 up on a windy morning. #31 5-20-17 With WMC on the Beatout hike. 6+ hours to summit. #32. 8-17-18 w/ Lana & Brent. 4+10 up. Zero wind!
Part of the Beatout
This peak is awesome! Aromatic pine forests, a fun, knife-edge scramble, and a solid climb in the final push to the summit.
My only complaint was how popular the trail was--there were a lot of people out today!
A buddy and I started after work and skied up to Red Pine Lake. We camped there in the snow. We reached the top the next day. We were surprised how many people were on the trail. The trip out took way longer than expected.
Went with my father and uncle via the standard route, my first real experience with scrambling. Steep and long, but a scenic and enjoyable route from the beautiful Red Pine Lakes. Great summit views, signed the register, surprised to find some friendly chipmunks on the summit. Would recommend as a spectacular peak!
Hiked with Duc and Darby. Erin and Zack hiked with us to Red Pine Lake. Met Brooke and Ema at the top who got lost after going to Maybird so followed us down. Saw a couple tons of rock fall off the north side of the ridge just east of the peak. Luckily, no one was below. We watched the sunset as we waited for the Oktoberfest traffic to die down.
First time ascent. Awesome hike- well worth the effort!
Love this hike! The lakes are beautiful and provide excellent spots to refill water to lighten up the day pack. The view up top is outstanding and is one of the easier 11ers to navigate up and down - just follow the trail and people (on the weekends in the summer, of course).

Great hike up past Red Pine lakes to the summit
We hiked up to Red Pine Lakes and made camp on Friday night. After some morning frustrations, we hiked the rest of the way to the top of Pfeif, where we heard a bunch of funny stories about wildlife. Many moose were spotted.
Red Pine route, perfect end of summer weather.
Summited via Maybird Headwall with Brian Tecklenburg and Buckets. The headwall is covered in about 4-6 feet of snow.
Fun hike via Red Pine Lake, then summit from the ridge. Beautiful fall colors and helpful people all along this popular trail. Was alone at the top, but passed about 6 people who were on the way down in various groups after the upper lake. Quite a popular route. Easy trail to find.
Climbed the Pfeifferhorn as part of the Beatout. Great views from the top! Climbed over to Upwop, and then more. Scrambling is fun and easy up the Pfeifferhorn and over to Upwop!
I have been up to Red Pine Lake twice before with the intention of summiting Pfeifferhorn, and both times I was thwarted. Finally made it this time! Gorgeous day, super fun ridge/scramble, and awesome views! The trail was littered with incredibly handsome mountain men all day, too. Can't ask for much more than that.
Easy and pleasant east ridge, following PelludicWombat's instructions.
Climbed this as a part of a wilderness medicine trip. This is a beautiful mountain. If only I had my skis for the way down!
