I was sick as a dog. Goldy and I started up early, got to see the clouds clearing from the mountains.
Hiked up Phelps Mt today. Excellent weather, great views and hundreds of very hungry blackflies! 8 miles, 5 hours and stopped to take plenty of pictures and ate lunch at the summit.
This was my first High Peak ever and first winter summit. It was tougher than I expected but the summit has a great view. No people at all, my favorite thing.
Skied out to Avalanche Lake and figured I would grab this peak on the way back. I did, but it was a pretty tiring day.
Old Man Phelps never knew modern synthetic clothing
Was feeling good on the way down from Marcy and Table Top and decided to make the trip up. Amazing views and the weather was perfect, but the summit was crowded.
Icy due to the unusually frigid weather, but a fun, clear-sky day.
This was an extraordinary day.It was not only my birthday, but I became an Adirondack 46er here on this day.Alot of people were there to share in the excitement. Not my favorite ADK peak, but a memorable one...Jim
decided to hit up phelps on the way down from marcy.
We wanted a nice quick warmup hike before doing Colden from Lake Colden the following day and this peak definitely fit the bill. Good views from Big Slide all the way around to Algonquin and Wright.
Rewarding view of Mary
Climbed with Table Top via the Van Hoevenberg Trail from the Adirondack Loj. Constant ice and snow over 3000' this time of year. The views from the summit were excellent. Be aware of the steep ledges along the side trail off Van Hoevenberg.
This was a good hike in the fall. There are good views of Marcy and Algonquin.
Hiked with Paul from the Loj. Mostly clouded in and rainy/snowy. Headed to Tabletop from here. #30/46. : )
2nd 46er of the day. Another cloudy, rainy day in the Adirondacks.
Made it back down off the mountain just in time for a horrendous thunderstorm to hit.
To many people on the summit, but the views were still pretty impressive. A lot better than I expected.
Lots of snow, some blowdown, and posthole digging. In fog at the top.
Nice hike with my Philmont crew.
