Adirondacks Flooding

by Bark Eater » Fri May 20, 2011 6:04 pm

I'm sure this is old news to some, but I just became aware yesterday: Portions of the Adirondacks experienced what was described as a "100-year flood" the last few days of April. The flood waters have long receded, but it leaves me wondering on the washout impacts to some of the back roads and trail-bridge river and stream crossings. I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of trail repair work going on this summer. Good discussion here: http://www.adkforum.com/showthread.php?t=15567. There is also some good video available on YouTube if you google "Adirondack Floods". There was fear of a dam breech from Lake Abanakee (where the rafters launch) into the Indian and Hudson Rivers but luckily it did not happen.
