Greetings fellow climbers,
I'm going to be visiting southern Germany soon for a few weeks (until Oct. 2nd, when I fly back to the US) to see family & friends. Will most likely be spending most time around Nuernberg area, although some traveling (either a brief trip to the Alps, or most definitely to Munich for Oktoberfest) would be great! Or if anyone would just want to meet up for some beers around Nuernberg (or the little Dorf of Oettingen (where my unce lives), in the off chance that anyone is around there), or would be interested in doing some climbing, let me know!
If the timing & weather cooperated, I wouldn't mind even giving the normal route on the Matterhorn (Hoernligrat) a try, if anyone is game. That climbing difficulty shouldn't be any hindrance for me, I can usually remember how to tie-in & belay correctly, & I've been spending a fair amount of time in the mountains recently, so the altitude shouldn't be an issue either. Or if there are any day-excursions from Nuernberg or Munich that anyone would suggest, that would be cool too! I lead trad to about 5.10 or so on a good day (as I haven't done any climbing in Germany, I wouldn't be the best at conversions).
Oh yeah, ich kann auch deutsch.
