Best of 2010 Scenes-CO & UT

by shknbke » Mon Jan 03, 2011 4:51 pm

Every year I put together a slide show with music of the best scenes I was privileged to enjoy during the year. Here is the 2010 edition, mostly in Colorado with some Zion and North Wash shots from Utah.

Happy New Year!

Snow is NOT 18% gray

by MtnHermit » Fri Jan 07, 2011 12:02 pm

Love the compositions, but snow rendered at 18% gray is ugly. Suggest you learn to master light and become a photographer and not a camera pointer. Simply compare the snow in scenes that are mostly rock, which is 18% gray, to the mostly snow scenes. White snow is a thing of beauty, gray snow is ugly. You're too good a camera pointer to not make the jump to photographer.

A simple tip, point your camera at the blue sky, which is 18% gray, half press the shutter to lock the exposure, then compose and fire. Viola, white snow.
