Cathedral Peak Mountaineers route

by chickenyoyo6 » Tue May 05, 2015 10:53 pm

Has anyone climbed the mountaineers route on Cathedral Peak? I'm going out to Yosemite in a couple weeks with a group of friends. We're from a university in Wisconsin. We have trad experience, and scrambling experience, but we have a small amount of multi-pitch experience. So we are looking into doing the mountaineers route. Does anybody know the difficulty/exposure on this route? Also if its easy to protect or not? Any help is appreciated, thank you!

It's quite easy except the last 15 feet that are pretty steep and some call 4th class. Easier going up than down. Most scramblers would not find it to be a big deal, but if you have inexperienced people in your party you may want to bring some harnesses, a couple stoppers and a short rope to belay them up and down. Bob Burd's photo at http://www.snwburd.com/bob/trip_photos/ ... C00019.jpg gives a good idea of what you are looking at.
