The title pretty much says it all. Looking for something not too warm that won't rip right away when you glissade in them. Checked REI but they said the cheaper ones won't hold up? Wondering if there's anything good online.

Are you willing to give up breathability? How light is light? How cheap is cheap? Do they need to be waterproof?

Waterproof is probably the most important feature. With light I just mean not too warm. I have a pair of North Face skipants that work well for really cold weather but I'm the warm type; I don't get cold easily. Anything above freezing is pretty much shorts weather LOL

I've used Marmot Precip pants (about $100 new) on several glissades without a problem.

maybe you could just wear a diaper made from a tarp over your normal climbing pants when you are planning on glissading. I bet that can be made cheaply, and it would look really amazingly cool.

just bite the bullet and learn to ski or board, you will never glissade again.

true, but skinning is so much faster than slowshoes, i mean snowshoes

Or just do standing glissade. It's safer anyway.

You can see rocks and have much more control.

Slip a heavy duty trash bag over your pants bottom. Like the diaper suggestion.

That seems about the standard. Many people have these.
And, ran into some guys on Adams once who were using cut-out garbage sacks, like a diaper. Was working well for them.

that or a small piece of weathermate plus or tyvek.. drive by any construction site and they will probably give you a scrap for free.. that cheap enough? and weighs next to nothing
