I can't say for sure, since DnD (I think) put it back in CA and the two of us didn't discuss it between us. I think Chad's point is that such banal exchanges occur when a thread goes to OR and therefore the threads should stay out of OR to prevent this - DnD may have agreed with this, or perhaps didn't feel it was OR as I did. I certainly don't think the solution is to keep OR threads out of OR - that would just lead to all sorts of unrelated threads remaining out of OR because of concern as to what might happen to them.

Therefore, regardless of content and the rules and mandates that dictate such, it was returned here not to better the Forum, rather to appease the author (whom I am not allowed to mention because of my agreement not to) and his whims.

In other words it was returned here in order to prevent me from presenting how ludicrous this thread really is and how it does absolutely nothing to better the SP community as a whole in regards to hiking, peak bagging or climbing.

The Killing of a Cougar by an off duty Commission President of the CA d F&G is now positive and solid constructive material within the state of California's climbing conditions and news forum.

Got it.

Jeezus. What a mob of cry babies.

I moved it back because I perceived (perhaps wrongly) that some people wanted it to stay in the Cali forum. Before I could do that I had to clean it up because you and Chad turned it into an extremely childish pissing contest. I also felt that allowing it to run with you two carrying on that way was either going to get the thread nuked altogether and/or both of you banned. I hate seeing people banned so I did what I did. Get over it.

Bob Burd wrote:That's OR on SummitPost, far as I can tell.

Actually hunting and other related threads have not been off-route material as a matter of practice. If it belongs in News and not California, that's debatable (it is hiking news... it is pretty clear this guy hiked for an extended period of time), but I felt CA was more relevent because it is clearly a matter pertinent to the state. But putting it in off-route just kills the participation of a lot of folks who could participate in legitimate discussion simply because many do not look there or are even aware of the location.

Bob Burd wrote:I think Chad's point is that such banal exchanges occur when a thread goes to OR...

Yes that was a point, but a small one and Bob my primary point was that this is was an outdoor thread and is relevant to this site. Some people here were interested, and it had participants who don't bother or know about off-route. The thread was lively yet civil and I think is the sort of thing that helps with increasing the overall participation and interest level on the site. Since it is clearly outdoor related I don't think having it more visible to a wide audience does more harm than good.

Thanks again dadndave and yes I do appreciate you reconsidering the location.

I will recommend to others to begin posting up pot growing conditions in the CA forum. In most cases, one must climb to get to some ripe spots to begin a good healthy grove. Also nude beaches, dog parks, bike riding trails.... etc etc etc.

PS: Since when is OR a serious forum???

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't

But one thing it definitely isn't is a place for you and Chad to continue your personal vendetta.

So now OR is a serious forum where bantering is no longer allowed. No bantering in the General Forums and none now allowed in OR.

Might be a good idea to revamp both the General forum content criteria that have been in place for a longass time. It is obvious that they are ever changing on a daily basis these days depending on who is on duty in the Mod Office.

PS: Hey DND, there is an action called PMing. All you had to do was initiate one to ME to cease and desist and I would have done so. None was received.

I know I know.... grow up.

BTW, who the fuck is this "chad". All this over someone that is a nobody except an avatar without a face or name. Is he/she/it a mod that now determines what goes and what stays in order to bring more participation to SP?

Appears so.

Nope, see the post above your last one.

No bantering in the General Forums and none now allowed in OR.

There is a difference between banter and personal abuse.

I don't agree that this is a good idea and "longass" isn't a word. It is not obvious that any "criteria" change depending on who is on duty in the Mod Office although it may be the case that it isn't always easy to be consistent. When I fail to be consistent or otherwise make mistakes, sorry about that.

Exactly

BTW, who the fuck is this "chad".

Chad is mrchad9.

Is he/she/it a mod that now determines what goes and what stays in order to bring more participation to SP?

No

Appears so.

Appearances can be deceptive, as your post clearly demonstrates

Well, since I am not authorized to post anything from either of them in the Gen forum, hell I am not allowed to post their names either.

Never mind D-n-D.

To post what I should will only help their cause. So I won't!

Some day the truth will come out.... some day. Till then, I aint gonna let them win. Period.

People shouldn't poke at each other in these threads.

BTW, I saw two cougars roped up on the Palisade Glacier.

And who said SP is dying? This "banter and abuse" is still nothing like some of what went on back in the Pratt-n-Prattle days. Off route, perhaps, but if you ask me (and I know you're not), friction among the likes of SP members is normal. It is so easy to simply ignore posts that are judged to be over the top. I know I took SP far too personally several years ago only to realize later how arrogant and immature I was behaving. Rick and I, for example, found our common ground despite our differences. We do have common ground around here, I think that reality easily gets lost over what often amounts to nothing.

Anyway, back to the Cougar issue (not talking about the Whitney Huston variety), I shared an email with the outdoors writer for San Diego's Union Tribune (Ed Zieralski) regarding this cougar-hunting president of the CA fish and game commission. Ed Zieralski and I often agree to disagree, but I respect his opinion all the same. He is of the opinion that this commissioner's actions by shooting a treed cat, and his "in-your-face" attitude about the incident, has nothing to do with his position, and more importantly, that this fellow is the only member on the CA fish and game commission that truly represents the interests of hunters and fisherman. I don't agree necessarily, but I did soften my position that he should either step down as president or he should apologize for his irresponsible behavior given he is a public official thereby mandating conduct that goes beyond issues of legality.

Oh, for crying out loud ... this DOES remind me of the "PnP" days.

If my wife caught me looking at COUGARS on the internet, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to ask dumb-ass questions like the ones I asked at the beginning of this thread ...

because, I'd be DEAD ..
