Mountaineering Experiment--Facing HAPE on 14K peak?

Had one of my clients die of HAPE at 10,100', 2.4 hours from initial (unobserved) onset to full on Pulmonary and Cardiac Arrest and death. July 24, 2009 on his way to base camp at High Lake on one of our Mt. Langley BCM ascents.

Began to show symptoms 1.9 hours from the parking lot and collapsed, ceased breathing etc 22 minutes later. Gave him CPR for 96 mins till an EMT on the team final came down the hill and pronounced him.

Final autopsy results clearly indicated death due to HAPE.

Yes, I’m familiar with that (HACE) occurrence.

What do you think it was in my case than?
