itza/orizaba weather

by shanahan96 » Mon Mar 05, 2007 2:17 am

we were wondering what to expect weatherwise for late march climbs of itza and orizaba. would it be comparable to winter in colorado? warmer because it's more tropical? or colder because of the altitude? also, is there a site, like NOAA, where i monitor it? XPMexico isn't much help there at all.

The Mexican Volcanoes are warmer than Colorado is in the winter. Temperature wise, I would say it's about like climbing a 14er in late April or May.

November through March is usually pretty dry on the volcanoes, but occasional bad weather does come, though usually only a few times a month. Some routes are said to be icy late season.
