Hi everyone,

If you didn't hear, road crews have cleared 89 up to Lassen Peak trailhead.

I'm planning on heading up in the next few weeks to snowboard off the summit and am curios if I'll need a split or snowshoes or if I can make do with boots & crampons. Any tips are appreciated.

Did this yesterday. Used crampons for the lower 1/3 of the route before getting onto the dry tourist trail on the SE Ridge. Firm snow. Summited around 9:30a and waited around for another 45 minutes for the snow to soften but little changed. Still a great climb and snowboard descent.
