I'm planning to do the traverse of Mont Blanc (3 monts route) again in September 2010 with my daughter. (I last did it 20 years ago!. Nearly made it last summer but caught the big storm in the middle of August.)

Can ayone tell me the exact coordinates of the refuge Vallot?
On the web - and on SP - it is variously given as 45.839359° N / 6.852028°E (which matches the location shown on the map, or 45.83868°N / 6.85276°E (which is 100m higher up).

I just want to be sure so that I can put the location in my GPS in case of whiteout.

The vallot story is interesting. There is the same thing in English here http://www.montblanc.to/uk/mtblanc/texte2.html

Vallot stayed up there for 44 days with just a tweed jacket. We rush up and down in two days wearing a fortune in high tech clothing. They were made of stern stuff in the 1800s.
