Mauna Kea

Has anyone heard of anyone climbing Mauna Kea from sea level? I'll be doing this in the coming weeks and was hoping to hear of how it was done. I have a plan of action already but a little help never hurts.

I was wondering about this too. Theres big sugar farms and ranches there, and when I drove thru the area there were no parks that I saw. Coming from the rainy side would be a more pleasant hike, but it might be private land. Coming from the dry side would be hot!

But theres supposed to be an awesome hike up Mauna Loa...
