That is exactly why SP is useful.

I troll these boards for real-world conditions -- e.g. as in this discussion of the east couloir on Sill. The discussions of current Sierra conditions in the forums are often way more useful than the old, terse, mountain pages. Several of my friends wanted to take that east couloir because Porcella and Burns called it class 3, easy -- and I pointed them to this discussion. We value what you guys say more than what the book says.

Is it safe to wait and fill my water supply at the creek just prior to Brainerd Lake ?
Thanks,
Dave

Yup.... there is plenty of water up in them hills to be had.

I am up in em every other day and drink up straight outta them streams. No filter btw. Never have nor ever will.

Ahhhhhh.... great stuff.

Yeah, you can drink out of any of those streams. No issues and no need to carry any water until you pass the last trickles below the glacier.

I don't know. I was up at Middle Palisade last week and as we were coming back to camp at Finger Lake, we saw a naked guy emerging from the water. I don't want to know what he was doing in there.

How many times have you gone into a lake as a kid and ingested the water???

After doing so, how many times have you gotten sick?

Besides, anyone that goes for a swim up there aint gonna take a shit in it. Urine is not the issue either unless you have 1000 folks peeing at one time in any lake that size.
