Free Mount Si trail race set for Sunday, April 22 near Nort

NORTH BEND, Wash. – The fourth annual Si of Relief Climb for Time is set for Sunday, April 22 on Mount Si just outside of North Bend, Wash. and race organizers want you to get "Si"ched!

RIP Elizabeth Hawley

KATHMANDU (Reuters) - Elizabeth Hawley, a leading chronicler of expeditions on Himalayan peaks in Nepal, died on Friday at a private hospital in Kathmandu, her doctor said. She was 94.

Born in the United States, former journalist Hawley had lived alone in Nepal since 1960 and had become an unofficial arbiter of climbing-related disputes.

Climbing in Peru

Hello fellow climbers,
I will be visiting Peru in June with intentions of climbing Alpamayo and a few other peaks. We are trying to organize the trip by ourselves to save on costs.
Please Can anyone point us on the right direction in terms of:
1) other than Laguna Churup, what other day hikes can we do to acclimatize ?
2) Is it easy and where do we rent donkeys and porters for the trip? ...

Austrian alpinist found dead on Mt Lobuche East

An Austrian climber, Markus Schett (41), died while attempting to climb Mt Lobuche East (6,119 m) alone in the Mt Everest region recently, according to the expedition organiser.
