"I just mentioned the subject, but never expected it to be published, because we had always doubted that summit claim but media never seemed to be interested," Edurne told ExplorersWeb from Tibet today. "Suddenly though, media find it extremely important, and the news is all over Spain."
Edurne Pasaban also visited Elizabeth Hawley before she traveled to Annapurna. She maybe just mentioned the subject to Elizabeth Hawley also? She is SO INNOCENT!
"I am confused. Had I known this so-called race was going to be such a mess, I would have thought twice before getting involved,"
Edurne Pasaban is racing. Oh Eun-sun is also but she has courage to say she is.

Diego Sahagún wrote:Lin, I don't have any doubts that if Oh reaches Annapurna's summit Edurne will be one of the first on congratulating her. There are many stupid people in this world of mountaineering as in the whole society. If you could read Edurne's site you wouldn't find any thought of her about Oh's tricks. They've also been friendly on Annapurna BC. Pasaban is still on CB (5200 m) and will continue to ACB on wednesday because of a delay with the hiring yaks.

Reflexiones desde Nyalam (Tibet)

But Diego the cut and past text I made is in original from Edurne Pasabans site. It is the translation Explorersweb made. I read it first on the original site but I had to translate some with Google because my spanish it not good :? :?
Now I am very happy! Oh Eun-sun arrived at the summit of Annapurna :D :D :D Now South Korea have FOUR people reaching ALL THE FOURTEEN 8000 METER MOUNTAINS!!!

Have you seen any female chauvinist pigs post such opinions about the male climbers?

It's her choice, no question about that, and that's totally her own business.

But that hasn't anything to do with FortMental's post. FortMental says that is what matters.
Not their achievements, not the fact they have climbed the highest mountains on the earth, not their abilities as climbers. No, it's how they look which matters. It's degrading female climbers.

Whatever... she's hot, why not flaunt it? Nobody accused Tiger Woods banking on his body and looks, have they? I'm sick of people having this birkenstock-wearing granola-dyke stereotype of women climbers.

This thread is getting hot

Lin, I don't cast doubt on the 8000ers' race South Korean level. But neither Spanish, Italian, Polish, French, Kazak... And Tibetan

Or in disguise of cheering just because a WOMAN has just achieved a milestone in mountaineering history. Which was his point I believe. If you care that a woman just achieved that milestone, "superficial" stuff like gender does matter so be quiet about the jokes. If you can honestly say though who cares that a woman did it, it's been done before, then I shall think highly of you. I think.

Just nice to see that the elite climbers, male or female, have their little checklists also. Only a lot higher.
