Aconcagua Polish Glacier Route

by fredsfo » Mon Aug 26, 2019 9:02 pm

Hello,

A climbing buddy and I are planning on attempting Aconcagua in a little over a year (December/January 2020/2021). We would like to avoid the crowds and also want something slightly more on the technical side than the normal route, though no vertical ice climbing. The Polish Glacier Direct route seems perfect for us, but I haven't seen many summit reports via this route in the last few years and it seems to have fallen out of favor due to the deteriorating conditions of the glacier itself. Can anyone confirm if this route is still viable for an intermediate climber?

Thanks,

Fred

I can't tell about in general, but it seemed definitely climbable when I was there February 2018. See the following picture.
