Climbing in Central Asia

by missadventure » Fri Feb 10, 2006 1:14 am

Hi there,

I am planning a trip this summer to central asia, Kazakstan, Krygystan and the like.

Has anyone here climbed there before?

Did you have any particularly great climbing experiences to share?

I would love to find some experienced partners.

Is anyone interested in possibly doing a first ascent?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

I'm going there this season.
Not sure about targets yet.

Mail me and we can discuss it further.

Will be in the mountains the next 3-4 weeks, so expect a long time for answers.

Missadventure,

I will be in Tibet in late September to early October for a trek/tour. I have been trying to set up a climb afterwards. Hoping to keep it fairly simple for the climb and have a couple of 6000m peaks in Central Tibet I am considering.

I am still hoping that Janne (Corax) will be able to join in.

Feel free to email me if you are interested. I know that your timeframe and locale do not exactly match mine, but thought I will ask anyway.

Cheers
Bill

MissAdventure/Corax
I am looking for a project (preferably FA) for the first ten days of July. I would prefer something technical (big wall or N face) to a slog. If we are on the same wave-lenght do shoot me an email/send a picture and we can discuss it further.

I am living in Alma-Ata and could advice you something. What kind of climbing do you planning:
1) Beginner climbing at about 3000-4000 m - Alma-Ata area will fit well
2) Experienced adventure (4000-5000) - Peak Talgar near Alma-Ata or Inylchek area in Kyrgyzstan
3) Top mountains (5000-7000+) - Inylchek Area (Khan-Tengry, Pobeda, Mramornaya Stena) or Lenin Peak

Now there are a lot of tourist companies here, providing all kinds of support (I am not employee of any).

Good Luck!
