Current Snow Conditions on the Tour Du Mont Blanc

by roadtripper » Tue Jun 26, 2007 6:05 pm

Hey SPers,

I'm leaving on July 1st to do the Tour du Mont Blanc loop, and I was wondering if anybody knew the current snow levels on various sections of the tour.

I've been checking the Chamonix Valley forecast and the nightly temperatures have been in the 30s lately. Based on that fact, I'm assuming that parts of the tour have a significant amount of snow remaining.

Are there any good snow monitoring websites for that general area? (Chamonix, Les Contamines, Courmayeur, Champex, etc.).

Thanks!

Hi Roadtripper,
As far as I understand the weather in the Mt. Blanc area has not been very good the last couple of weeks. I myself planned to go to Chamonix around this weekend but cancelled as too much snow and unstable weather conditions. I constantly check the webcam
http://www.webcam-montblanc.com/webcam/ and the Chamonix area weather report site: http://meteo.chamonix.com/MetPreE.php If you check today you'll find alot of fresh snow.... Now I have set a date end of July.... /cheers, André
