One of my favorite XC trails, up in Harriman, was cut in my British forces in 1777. Those old guys knew how to cut in a ski run.

Lightfoot's Canadian Railroad Trilogy. Used to cover it. Hell of a tune.

Two feet of fresh relatively light snow (the Sierra after all). Lift to the top of Heavenly (10,000 feet +/-) Head South out of bounds above Killibrew Canyon and took a left down a perfect bowl/glade. Cross the stream, go under the tree. A mile of gentle fire road to the back door of the house I built for my brother (5000'). Stepped out of the bindings directly into the house just to say I could.

Like Heli-skiing without he fee. A good day.

Crossed the tracks up west of there over the holidays and as we were gathering on the other side a passenger train flew by. funny how you feel compelled to wave at folks on a train.

A bit surreal too, especially because passenger trains are so quiet. Would be pretty awesome if someone could run a viable SKi Train up there...

Funny you mention the snowsheds, WML and I were just up there this morning as it was nuking outside, practicing footwork and pick placement on the ice columns. Pretty much an indoor ice climbing venue. Wanna take the lady up on that run from Lincoln to Squaw this spring- Great story bud.

Looks like I missed you by a day. I hadn't realized those old tunnels are no longer used. I think there's a newer one burrowed deep in the mountain to make the maintenance of these old shed a moot point. But they were so well-built that they'll easily last another 100yrs, I imagine.





This old bridge from 1925 is pretty cool, too.

I was just up there yesterday ice bouldering in the sheds, way fun stuff!

Been eyeing that one for a couple years...maybe this is finally the season.

I found the NE Couloir of Langley quite enjoyable.
