50 Gondola Passengers Rescued via Helicopter w/ amazing Vid.

by lowlands » Thu Jan 14, 2010 1:34 am

About a week ago, beginning of January 2010, a Gondola on its way up to Klein Matterhorn broke down due to extremely low temperatures (-28 C). Because of the low temperatures, the 50 passengers inside needed to be rescued, quickly. Air Zermatt conducted the operation, I found the video on NKBV.nl, a dutch alpinist organization.

Here is a video, taken by one of the people on board the Gondola.

I wanna do that! Must have been quite cold though. They're pretty fast too!

You'd hate to say you'd want to bring the rescue workers out and into harms way, but it does look fun. Cold, but fun.
