That made me very uncomfortable. I mean, I read the description, and I'm glad it apparently ends miraculously well, but after the first few moments of the skier being buried and starting the panic whimper, I just couldn't watch any more -- again, even knowing in advance that it ends well. That gave me the vicarious claustrophobia willes... yeesh. That said, great vid (well, what I watched, at least) and very cool that the tech exists and is as widespread as it is to bring this kind of storytelling back to us.

That is rough to watch. I have to imagine after about a minute he was thinking to himself "crap, I'm going to have my death caught on film".

So he got located not by Beacon but by loose glove? This vid or something very much like it was on another thread touting the benefits of Avalung.

Its funny that this vid is used to market the avalung, In the description it says that the skier was unable to get the mouth peice fully in before he was buried, sounds like it didn't really help him at all.

Despite the loft of the powder when its moving, he sure go packed in tight when it settled. The one avalanche trail I've come across was real nasty chucks and blocks.

Not something for his loved ones to see. All they need to know is that he's still here! Sobering.

when it stops moving it sets up like concrete. Sometime go try to dig into one of the piles in a grocery store parking lot or something from the plows. It's shckingly hard to dig into.

I saw this video last month during an avalanche training seminar - uncomfortable doesn't begin to describe it!

I heard that you should make a swimming motion as you slide so you might stay on or near the surface, and just as you come to a stop puch around to create some breathing space.
