A lighter boot?

by maximlamare » Tue Feb 09, 2010 12:17 pm

Hi everyone,
This season I bought a pair of Salomon Pro thermics, for winter climbing (mostly alpine routes and easy WI). I find them heavy and quite cumbersome and tire much faster than I used to in my leather boots (that aren't warm enough and don't have a stiff enough sole).
I mostly climb between 2000 and 3000m, often just for the day (from time to time over 2 days).

Are my boots overkill for what I do? Could you recommend a lighter stiff-sole boot still warm enough for winter or should I man-up a bit and go running every morning before work to keep what I have?

Cheers,

For spring climbing I have been using the Asolo Expert and have lked the weight aswell as the insulation values, if you are climbing in temps below -5F your toes will start to feel it. but other then that they should work fine.
