I'm always looking for a good book to read. Suggestions? What are your favorites?

Best book I ever read is Quo Vadis by Henryk Sienkiewicz. I have an 1897 copy.
His writing is gripping. 515 pages of 'can't put it down'.

If you haven't done the classics, do those. "The Histories" by Herodotus. "Metamorphoses" by Ovid. Those two for starters. All of Shakespeare, Dante and much other stuff, is pulled right out of those two books. Even Movie plots. Interesting to read it in the - more or less - original.

While I'm not a christian or religious in any form, I still found Quo Vadis to be one of my favorite books of all time.

Preliminary question: what are your favorite subjects, adventure, biography, history, pop culture? If you like wild stories, sexy plots, plenty of destruction, the doings of dysfunctional families, YET great food for thought and portrayal of fascinating ethical dilemmas, you can't beat the first book of the Jewish bible, Genesis.

Today I got two emails about Christopher Moore's book, "Fool." Amazon told me that it is on sale. Christopher Moore told me that it is coming out in paperback today. This is a very funny book, loosely based on "King Lear."
