North Ridge Lone Pine Peak (Winter) Beta

by WML » Tue Mar 09, 2010 4:43 pm

Hey there, I'm lucky enough to finally get back to the East Side and am wanting to ascend that North Ridge from wherever I can get started, probably just after the road closed sign on portal road.

With that said, does anyone have any crucial beta for a winter trip up this thing?

Also, tent or bivy for sleeping?

Thanks so much!

This TR gives a good idea of what to expect. Haven't done it myself yet, but voila.

A friend and I attempted the NE Ridge this winter.

I was in Whitney Portal area last weekend and let me tell ya, theres a bunch of snow back there. The road is closed fairly low, you will have to hike/skin in a extra couple miles to get to whatever start youre looking at.

Good luck up there, thats a classic climb in a great setting.
