Finally in California/Lone Pine Peak

by armorfoot » Sun Apr 04, 2010 3:14 am

Just arrived in Lone Pine last week randomly on our nomadic excursion.

Now I know the centerpiece is Whitney, but Lone Pine Peak looks much more interesting and fun.

Now, just how difficult is the east face of this thing? It keeps intriguing me.

A little brushy but you can make it. There is a way to drive all the way up to near the base - north side of Tuttle Creek. No trail really and some steep snowy gullies to negotiate around midway up. For some reason the east side can have tons of snow on it. I think everything blows off the plateau and deposits here. Never gone up this way only come down it. Good luck!
