Shoe question

by Bartjuh » Sat Apr 10, 2010 10:07 am

Hey all,

I have a pair of Meindl Mountain Crack Pro GTX's, but there killing me
They are too narrow around the ball of my foot area, and apart from the blisters it feels like the bloodcirculation in my foot just stops after a while...

Can anyone advise me on some good mountaineering shoes (D-type) with more width around the ball of foot area? Purpose of the shoes; alpine climbs (4000m) & ice climbing. Should be usable with automatic crampons.

Thanks in advance!!

Scarpa boots have a wide toe box. The Jorasses are excellent alpine boots.

You may check to see if they offer a wide size selection. Vasque and others do, and it really makes a difference for sock sizes we use on the mountains, trails, and general trekking done in our specialized boots. Of course: YMMV.
