low elevation west side backpacking?

by MoabPeakBagger » Mon May 24, 2010 7:31 pm

Looking for somewhere to go backpacking this weekend. Somewhere on the West Side, somewhere further north (coming from Bay Area). Are there any decent low elevation (read: snow free this time of year) spots folks can suggest? I was thinking somewhere off Hwy 108 or Hwy 4 or Hwy 88. Any ideas? I'd appreciate it.

I've been backpacking out of Hetch Hetchy in May before - we did a loop from Laurel Lake to Lake Vernon to Tiltill Valley. It's lower elevation than the Yosemite high country and we didn't have to deal with snow, but this was during a lower snow year than this year.
