Insurance costs for mountain guides

by avidwanderer » Mon Jun 28, 2010 12:18 am

Hello all,

I trying to find a ballpark figure for insuring a mountain guide up to 10 million swiss francs (legal minimum for IFMGA guides). If there are any IFMGA climbing guides on here, I would appreciate the information! I am dawing up a business plan for my college class, and insurance costs are a big part of the plan.

Respectfully,
Matthew

Aren't mountain guides always insured (at least in Europe)? I would have thought so, although 10 million Swiss francs sounds a bit high!

I am not sure if mountain guides are required to be insured in the states, but you are right about Europe. The number 10,000,000 is from a swiss guide website. I thought it was high to... anyone else have information?
