Hi all,
I'll be in Seattle for one night, two days at the beginning of this week. I'd love to do a couple of day hikes, if possible. Suggestions?

Kaleetan Peak, Granite Mountain, McClellan Butte, Snoqualmie Mountain, Mount Aix, Mount Ellinior. There are many more but check these ones out on SP first. Usually two pages a week come from this state.

Do you like seafood?

Check out the Aquarium on the Waterfront. I know you like animals.

If I was in Seattle, I'd either go up to Snoqualmie Pass, or do some stuff on the east side
of Mount Rainier.

I guess it would depend on the weather?

Take the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island ($6 one way, free the other - I forgot which way is which), and just west of the Bainbridge terminal about 1/4 mile are two bar/grills with fine views of the sound, harbor, etc.

Also, in the Pike Place market there is a fine pub, but I don't remember the name, or EXACTLY where it is, I just "find it".

You're thinking of the Harbor House. Great tap selection, very good menu of upscale pub grub. The deck gets very crowded after about 3pm due to the loveliness of the views.

Best fish and chips: Pacific Inn Pub at Stone and 34th (35th?) in Northlake
Best taps:
- German: Prost (Greenwood) or die BierStube (Roosevelt), same owners
- Local: Maritime Pacific's Jolly Roger Taproom (Ballard), and their kitchen is brilliant
- Dutch/Belgian: The Dray (65th) is small, Brouwer's Cafe (Fremont) is large

If you don't like beer, I just not sure what to tell you.

Oh, day hikes: Mt. Si (40min out of town), Mt. Washington (not even 40min), Mailbox (45min), Rattlesnake Ridge (30min).

While the suggestions of dayhikes in the Olympics are all good hikes (esp. Mt. Ellinor -- great bang for the buck), they all take a looong time to get to if you're in Seattle, especially only for a day or two. Getting on a ferry (or driving around), plus getting across the Hood Canal bridge, plus Hwy101 all make for a very long day.

Yes, and I give this one two thumbs up also!

Further, if you want to walk up the stairs on University St from Alaskan Way east-ish, there are several little places with great balconys with views of the sound.
