Before Zzyzx changed his SP name and settled down, got married and started having kids he was the author of several Mt. Shasta route pages, such as Casaval Ridge. He and Diggler climbed that route in the winter as a day trip btw. We have climbed some cool shit together, and he was there at the hospital soon after my accident. I am privileged to call him a friend.

Same here. The day before I did Ben Nevis there was a storm and at least a half dozen rescues of climbers and hikers for various reasons. The next day wasn't quite as bad, but not nearly as many folks on the mountain. Even so on the summit visibility was only about 20-30 feet, and without a compass and prior experiences we would have been forced to hide out in the summit shelter, or gotten completely lost. Complete whiteout and harsh conditions the whole route down.

It seems it is ok to poke someone with Mt Sunflower, but not any other means?

The hardest mountain I ever climbed was only 2723 feet/830 meters. Or maybe, more accurately, the hardest mountain I almost climbed (as I chickened out of the last few feet) was only 2723 feet.

Completing the 50 state highpoints is no laughing matter. Yes, they include Mt. Sunflower, but they also include Denali.

oh next time I write a trip report, (just for you) I will include a list of pains I had. This last weekend for example knees and L shin were bothering me.
I don't think a headache is uncommon when you drive from sea level and day hike a 14er, no?

It would be best if you let Rob interview you, and then he can write the report.
