Ice tools are a bit like electronics - they lose their value so quickly because of the rapid pace of technological developments. For $100 more I can buy brand new Black Diamond Vipers from Mountaingear.com, complete with leasheless grip rests and all that. I gave away my last pair of ice tools to a friend. There was nothing wrong with them, they were solid tools but outdated. I figured the good will was worth more than any small amount of money I could have asked for them.

It's all about maximizing your profits. I start high and will lower the bid appropriately. Summitposter notoriously get upset when you just say "make an offer." Who pays what somebody is offering anyway? Negotiate!
