snow conditions for sawtooths

by climbingchic » Sat Oct 09, 2010 12:45 am

Can someone tell me how much snow, if any, the sawtooths got, specifically Thompson Peak, Mickey's spire, and Mt. Carter? thanks!

Looks like None. Lost Rivers got some, but they are colder/farther east.

You can always check the Sawtooths for yourself here:

I was just up at Thompson Peak a couple weeks ago and conditions were great. The only snow was on Thompson peak (very little) and a little at the base. You won't see a lot of snow at the higher altitudes until mid November. It can vary from year to year but as of now, there isn't much up there.

I wouldn't be quite that bold with my predictions.
This is Banner Creek summit, just off the highway, in October. A lot more up high. And it's not unusual. We almost always get turns in the Sawtooths by early November.

Ok, maybe November was a bit to far into the season. Anyways the point was, that there was very little up there as of a couple weeks ago.

I should've been more specific because here in SLC we got rain most of the week with very little snow and I was shocked. I didn't know if you guys got hit with the same storms, but it was from those storms that I was wondering if the mtns got any. Not that I had to say all that, but I appreciate all the replies. That camera said it all and is all I needed to see. It looks like things are good with the weather. I'm excited! Thanks again!
