Mt. Marcy Dec 11th

by pellegrino » Sat Nov 20, 2010 10:32 pm

Hey Guys,

I'm looking for some information about Marcy conditions over the next few weeks. Does anyone live in the area or has anyone climbed recently? I'm looking to go the weekend of Dec 11th.

Also, how far of a drive is it to Montreal from the trailhead?

Thanks,
Mike

You may want to check viewsfromthetop.com . There is alot of current northeast conditions there. There will be snow.
If I were to guess I would bring microspikes & snowshoes, preferrably MSR's then you wouldn't need crampons at all for an ascent of Marcy.

2 1/2 hours

I agree - microspikes and snowshoes.

I was on Lafayette yesterday (Sunday, Nov. 21), don't know how similar it would be on Marcy, but for our hike, microspikes were quite useful; snowshoes - definitely not.
