Silverton Backcountry Ski Lines/tours

by Dan Shorb » Thu Dec 09, 2010 2:10 am

A bit familiar with the Silverton area touring, I was hoping to get some ideas on both safer tours as well as "GOOD" condition tours. Day tours only, but willing to tour a fair distance in. I've skied several places both near the pass as well as up the ski area road. Looking for Mineral Creek options or Eureka options as well. Thanks.

Too many to give any specific details, but....you could tour up Cunningham, Maggies, or Minnie Gulches. Kendall mtn (and area South of peak) are great and easy to get to. The ridge that borders the South side of S. Mineral Creek has multiple avy runs that you can ski and that have a skin track up most of the season. All areas are dependent on the conditions at the time you go....

Thanks for the info. Its greatly appreciated, seems that its classic conditions (aka low angle northfacing trees may be what we get on. We'll see. Thx.
