On a recent backcountry ski touring trip...a binding needed adjustment and my repair kit did not include a few necessary items to do a proper fix.

What is included in your backcountry ski touring kit?

A roll of electricians tape, length of soft wire, multi tool, I also keep duct tape wrapped around my ski pole. A buddy and I actually repaired the broken toe bar on his Riva II`s with electricians tape.... got him back to the car! I of course carry an extensive survival kit also.

Trying to compile some of your ideas...

A ski touring fix-it kit should have:

Allen wrench
Mini adjustable wrench
Electricians tape,
Length of soft wire,
Multi tool,
Duct tape
Parachute cord

are we missing anything else?

I used to carry one of those temporary tips (with the one-way saw-teeth). I don't know if they even make those for modern skis, and the tips may now be a lot stronger.

I never used one of those for it's design purpose, but they do make a good brace for a sprained wrist!

Zip ties of various sizes and lengths can come in handy. I also carry a spare basket for my poles and have lent it out severral times. I make sure that I carry the specific bit sizes for each set of bindings.
You can make a reasonable sled with two skis, crossed poles and a pack and the parachute cord and zip ties. Not great but can get someone out.

For remote trips its worthwhile bringing one entire spare binding, or if your in Dynafit just a heel, or both a heel and toe piece.

Yes, I too highly recommend the wildsnow website. I've used it many times to get detailed reviews of specific boots and bindings.

Back in the days of foam-core skis with 3-pin bindings, I saw bindings come loose... but my own bindings, set in a lot of epoxy, never did.

PS.... 5 minute epoxy takes 5 weeks at low temperature.

I ripped out a binding a couple of years ago on day 2 of a 4 day trip. If I'd had the epoxy and steel wool, I probably could have finished the tour. As it was, we had to bail, with my binding held on with straps.

I'm well aware of the effects of temperature on chemical reactions, such as epoxy curing. It doesn't take a whole lot of ingenuity to figure out a way to keep glue warm for 5 minutes.
