Laura Molnar's Sierra Club presentation, Jan 11

by Bob Burd » Thu Nov 04, 2010 5:31 pm

No, it's not the dreaded MLC SC, but the PCS SC, that's the Peak Climbing Section of the Loma Prieta Chapter of the Sierra Club. Laura has been invited to give a presentation on "What I Did During Summer Vacation" to this group of peakbagging enthusiasts. Laura and I thought it might be a good opportunity to bring together some of the SummitPosters, Sierra Challengers, and Sierra Clubbers, and in my exchanges with their club chairman, they thought it was a good idea too. The location currently listed on the club website has been changed to a larger venue:

The Summit Room at Sports Basement
1177 Kern Ave
Sunnyvale, CA
7:30-9:30pm, Jan 11, 2011

All are welcome to attend. I offered to help collect info on how many folks might be interested to help with planning, so if you'd like to come support Laura, please send an email to snwbord@hotmail.com. Hope you can join us!

I am sure that if anyone wanted to carpool this would be a good thread to set that up :)

The Peninsula Conservation Center is also not so far from VTA bus or Caltrain stops, particularly if you bring a bike .. and if you get directions from Google Maps you can click on the public transit icon to automagically get schedule info.

Woohoo !!

Good luck to Laura! I'm sure it will be a great presentation... just a bit far away for me! If you do put the presentation on the web, be sure to edit out any laughter or sounds of people having a good time, so we won't offend Pete.

pssst: Rob... venue change per Bob's post above...

Michael, I'd love to meet you at last if you can make it! Hmmm... I'll be getting my hair done in Pacifica earlier that day! LOL

This is going to be really special for me, since I'm coming home to give the presentation (born and raised in Belmont!!). Would love to see everyone there!!

Looking forward to January, folks!!

I was hoping to go, but now that it's a mile from my house, I'll have absolutely no excuse to miss it! If folks are down for tasty beers afterwards Faultline Brewery is only another half mile away!

Bumping this up since we're a week away! Hmm... time to finally get to work on this thing... :o

Even though the story has been told, I'm excited about being invited to share it with other folks. The meeting portion starts at 7, I think I'll probably be starting between 7:45/8??? Would love to see everyone out there.

Now, where did I put my outline?

Go Laura! It will be hard for me to make it out there, no vision and all, but I'll be there in spirit!

Don't plan too much. Just go through the slides a couple times and talk to the wall. Make sure the club has a compatible system ("What? We thought you were bringing the computer! Your files aren't Linux compatible?").

Thumb drive purchased, CDs at the ready, will upload it to my mobileme account for the organizer to attempt to download and run prior to my arrival.

I'm entirely too much of a perfectionist to think it could be that easy, Harlan! :D
