Orizaba in the wet season

by snoop » Wed Jan 05, 2011 10:24 pm

I am new to high altitude adventure and I am curious what it would be like to climb this mountain in June. Do I need to be cautious about storms and lightning? Any advice would be grateful.

We were there end of Sept., beginning of Oct. few years back. We didn't see any big storm, but got continuous drizzling rain. Plenty of snow on the crater - http://www.summitpost.org/orizaba-crater-rim/180786 . The mountain won't be crowded at all; but the road to the hut may not be passable even with 4wd, so you may have to do more walking as we did.
